The importance of learning English

Learning English is helpful for many reasons. First, English is the international language. If I can speak English , It will be easy to travel the world. Second, When I meet foreigners on the street, we can talk in English. If I can't speak English, I will be embarrassed. Finally, my sister asked me teach her English. Thus, I should learn English.

Good mothers.

There are three qualities that make good mother. Firstly, I think good mothers are kind and generous. They always listen carefully to the words of their kids. In addition, good mothers should be fair. When their kids fight with each other, they should not side with one child. Lastly I believe that good mothers are loving and caring. Love is all children need. If all mothers are good, children and mothers become better friends.

Matilda

more..

I'm going to tell you about my thoughts about this awesome book I read, Matilda. Ok~ So you propably would have read this book . I thought Maltilda was unfortunate because she had very lame and uneducated parents. In a way having super powers is a amazing and
exciting, but I think that If you are the only one with the super power
you won't be able to live in a normal way. So I thought having super powers isn't always cool. This story was very humorous and funny because of the trouble Matilda went into. I enjoyed this book and I reccomend this book to 3~5 graders.

Hi, Dorothy!

Hello Dorothy,

The summer vacation has been so short. I wish we had longer hours to talk, discuss and write about books.  Although my plans and teaching methods would not have been sophisticated enough to elicit both personal and critical reflections as an emerging researcher as well as English teacher myself, you shared your thoughts well and wrote beautiful reviews. Thank you so much for your efforts and sharing.

Before finishing our sessions, could you write your final versions of the second part of your reviews? You wrote three book reviews and I put your second parts of and comments on them as well aw some other book reviews from the "Goodreads" website together in the following attached files. Please post your changed reviews on comment sections of each of your book reviews.

I wonder if you can make some time for an interview about our sessions during next week. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Best wishes,
Jean

Matilda

Matilda

Do you know a genius girl who has extrasensory perception? She's Matilda. Her parents are Mr and Mrs Wormwood. They also had a son called Michael. Michael was just a normal boy, but Matilda was different. Her speech was pefect at the age of one and a half. When Matilda was three she taught herself to read by studying newpaper and magazines. She was a genius girl. But she was little late in starting school. She was five and a half when she entered school for the first time. The school in the village for Matilda was Crunchem Hall Primary School. Matilda was put in the bottom class, their teacher was called Miss Honey, she was mild and quiet person. But Miss Trunchbull wasn't. Miss Trunchbull was so mean, and she hates kids. She even throw student to the window. Besides, Trunchbull grabed Amanda's pig tails, and she swung her and she threw her far away. Oneday, Matilda knew that she has a extrasensory perception. Matilda and her friends wanted to expel Trunchbull. Because of extrasensory perception, Matilda could expel Trunchbull. Then Matilda lived with Miss Honey happily.

I thought that Matilda is so poor. Because, her parents are so mean to her. But she has some good things too. For example, she has extrasensory perception, and also she are genius! So I envy her. I want to have extrasensory perception like her. If I have a chance to get extrasensory perception, I want to get immortal, and also, I want to get flying extrasensory perception. Because, when I get immortal, I can use the future stuff. And if I can fly, I can go another country without airplane, so I can save the money. Then I can go foreign country very often. I want to be psychic!!!

Brené Brown: The power of vulnerability

I think this talk is relevant to our discussion. I feel vulnerable when something is out of my control. I think Rachel would have felt the same vulnerability when she couldn't stand up for her telling the filthy red sweater wasn't hers. Brene Browun talks about vulnerability. She explains how we should treat/embrace our vulnerability and turns them into our strengths.

http://www.ted.com/talks/brene_brown_on_vulnerability.html

Following is a part of her talk:
"What they had in common was a sense of courage. And I want to separate courage and bravery for you for a minute. Courage, the original definition of courage, when it first came into the English language -- it's from the Latin word cor, meaning heart -- and the original definition was to tell the story of who you are with your whole heart. And so these folks had, very simply, the courage to be imperfect. They had the compassion to be kind to themselves first and then to others, because, as it turns out, we can't practice compassion with other people if we can't treat ourselves kindly. And the last was they had connection, and -- this was the hard part -- as a result of authenticity, they were willing to let go of who they thought they should be in order to be who they were, which you have to absolutely do that for connection.

The other thing that they had in common was this: They fully embraced vulnerability. They believed that what made them vulnerable made them beautiful. They didn't talk about vulnerability being comfortable, nor did they really talk about it being excruciating -- as I had heard it earlier in the shame interviewing. They just talked about it being necessary. They talked about the willingness to say, "I love you" first, the willingness to do something where there are no guarantees, the willingness to breathe through waiting for the doctor to call after your mammogram. They're willing to invest in a relationship that may or may not work out. They thought this was fundamental."
